There are many ways to get to the Southport & Oak Island area. By car from I-95 take Hwy 211 East or Hwy 74 East then Hwy 211 at Bolton, or from I-40 at Wilmington take Hwy 133 to Oak Island. By boat, most people take the Intracoastal Waterway to Southport. By air, many fly to Wilmington International then drive via Hwy 133 to Oak Island.
For those with their own plane or charter flights, you can land here. If you arrive by air, the Brunswick County Airport on Long Beach Road caters to private and commercial pilots and even small jets. Services include taxi cabs, limousines and rental cars.
The airport is adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway and Oak Island and features a 4,000 foot paved runway, freshly painted markers and has updated navigational beacons. It's just a short drive to the beaches, Southport and the ferry. There are 50 plane tie-downs, 100-octane fuel and Jet-A-Fuel.

The area is spectacular to view from the air:
An air tour service, including Bi-Plane rides, is provided of the Southport, Cape Fear and Oak Island Areas. They specialize in area history, so you get much more than just a plane ride. Extended tours of other local areas are also provided. Or for the more adventurous, the airport now offers Skydiving!
Year-round parking is available for those that must leave their cars behind. During the peak summer vacation season, around 60 planes per day use the facility. Among them are celebrities who visit the popular tourist spots.
