The Southport Maritime Museum

The Southport Maritime Museum houses a collection of memorabilia pertaining to the vast nautical history of 'The Lower Cape Fear' area of southeastern North Carolina.

You can easily follow the self-guided tour throughout the 12 designated stations, or ask a knowledgeable guide to lead the way. The museum is located at 116 North Howe Street, Southport, NC.

Whats New:
A local net expert has made a nine foot model of a shrimp-boat net for our museum, complete with 'doors'. If he's in the museum while you are visiting, he'll be glad to show you how to knit a net...

A 200 pound pile torpedo retrieved from the historic waters of the Cape Fear River, a 2,000 year old indian canoe fragment, the shipwreck 'City Of Houston' treasures, the Frying-Pan Ship, and so many other pieces of Cape Fear and Frying Pan Shoals history await your discovery.
